Snyk has lost a lot of top talent since the original micro-layoff that took place in July of 2022, and much of that talent has left the company on their own accord due to dismay. There seems to be a growing frustration from employees surrounding transparency from leadership and career growth opportunities (many individuals feel they plateaued during month 5 or so and have no option for lateral movement). There have been constant issues surrounding favoritism and visibility. After a total of 3 rounds of layoffs, management continued to make jokes such as "your slack will still be active on Monday if you do x, otherwise, we're not sure." People feel overworked - work-life balance is not encouraged, and you will face backlash for taking time off. Individuals were praised for staying in the office far beyond typical working hours and working on holidays/weekends, which encouraged others to do the same - easy to wind up with a toxic relationship with work in the environment Snyk creates.
