Fulfilling work being able to help the American public. This job with give you a lot of empathy for others, especially disadvantaged groups (retirees, disabled, undocumented workers, etc)
Cons
Software that they use is HORRIBLE ! Work quotas unreasonable and micro managing in all office locations is extremely petty/ disrespectful. You will feel spread thin 24/7. Also skills from this job is non transferable, you will feel trapped and unable to find a different job later on. Furthermore Social Security numbers are the basis for a lot of transactions/ financial/ work , so you will spend a lot of time doing little misc tasks , jumping through weird hoops /scenarios… that aren’t described in the job description. Over the years, this job will burn you out ! You will feel prideful and fulfillment helping the public, but burn out and horrible bosses will make you leave .
