Pros
Great product, USA made, (some) nice people.
Cons
With the CEO's endorsement, the micromanaging president has his fingerprints on every aspect of the company culture and operation., including a management style that often crosses the line to harassment. The company president confuses public shaming with accountability, and encourages, perhaps enjoys, face-offs between staff. The result is that those who play the game well withhold collaborating with peers so that they have a club to beat them with when in front of the president. The product is amazing and the company should be twice its size. Leadership has aggressive growth goals with no clear strategy or path to achieve them – no changes in channel, sales coverage, marketing, or go to market initiatives – and is closed off to ideas for change. Given that the president starts, ends, and focuses all conversations on how smart he is, he should also take credit for low/slow company growth in the 20 years he’s been at the helm. He’s a smart and dynamic guy driven by a bizarre mix of ego and insecurity that creates a toxic corporate culture.
