Pros

Good benefits, on-the-lot screenings and events, commissary, active employee resource groups

Cons

Everyone is so "nice" that they all suffer from being bystanders who are afraid to make change. This is not a place that values innovation, action or diversity. This is a place that values sustaining a status quo system of privilege and power. Toxic managers supported by passive HR and other managers who won't speak truth to power. Senior leadership who are more interested in preserving their paychecks and position than doing right by the employees. Efforts around diversity work is superficial and for PR but not genuine b/c the work environment is still incredibly biased towards women and people of color. Lots of work around Black and women's voices but nothing for other minorities or LGBTQ. I was actually told by my manager that "Asians and Native Americans don't matter" because they didn't account for enough of the box office. For a Japanese-owned company, I found that to be hypocritical and shameful. There is a clear divide between the employees and senior leaders. There's a lot of work around building communities by employees but there is "rubber-stamp," lip-service support from the Executives that lacks true, authentic commitment. Tony Vinciquerra seems to be the exception, since he seems to actually care, but it's not reflected in the rest of his leadership team. Tom Rothman may make the studio a lot of money but he's the worse perpetrator when it comes to modeling the toxicity and prejudice that abounds. HR is very passive and complacent. They do a lot of work around documentation but no real change happens where it needs to. Leadership uses statements like "this is how we've alway done it" or "it wouldn't get approved" to quash efforts for real meaningful change in the culture and in business practices. Bullies in positions of power stay in their positions. Those who are their victims leave. That just leaves a company full of bullies, eager for new, unsuspecting prey. This is a not a safe place to work.

Pros

- began work with an amazing team and culture - exposure to major IP and high-profile campaigns - some genuinely talented and passionate colleagues - fast-paced environment that builds skills quickly - healthcare is decent - some fun on-lot perks

Cons

- poor work/life balance exceptions from SPTV lower and upper management - unmanageable workload left little room for the collaboration and meeting engagement leadership expected - upper management changes resulted in reactive restructuring with little regard for team culture or continuity - inconsistent management: some leaders failed to empower or advocate for their teams - clear office politics which interfere with business decisions - quick burnout when management fails to course-correct workload - leadership set workloads based on personal work style rather than sustainable team norms - little to no growth opportunities - 4 days in office is excessive and unnecessary
