Pros

- Remote work - Supporting students can be rewarding

Cons

- Leadership feels disconnected from the day to day reality of the role. - They ask for feedback, but nothing changes. - Workload keeps increasing but pay and support don't follow. - Advising absorbs many gaps from other depts. - Accountability is limited, issues get passed around. - High pressure, constant scrutiny. - Disorganized processes and poor communication. - Very strong emphasis on enrollment and metrics but doesn't translate to student success. - Burnout is common and people don't stay.

Pros

I'm very fortunate to be on a very good team with a very good leader. This is job is difficult by virtue of motony, but I am fortunate enough to have teammates who care about the team and students. So far, I've been treated very well by everyone at South University.

Cons

It's a tough gig. You scale a mountain of rejection each day to try to find a foothold. Judging by what I've read here, I lucked into a really good manager because all jobs have detractors, but my Director is very good and I feel very supported.
