Pros
This review is specific to the Canadian division. Depending on where you are in your job search, Southwire Canada is a company that may be a fit for what you are looking for. Some of the good things about Southwire Canada are: - Innovative and competitive product offerings/solutions - Capable sales team across Canada, including those in the pricing and inside sales teams - Many Southwire US initiatives that are unique and tie into supporting the community and employees (ie: 12 for life, Project GIFT, The Power Fund, College Funding to manufacturing staff ) - Many giving back initiatives to get involved in and have an opportunity for paid volunteering - Flexibility and ability to integrate your work and life commitments - Some managers are true leaders and are both extremely knowledgeable and team champions - Office is in a prime location within Mississauga (close to highways and malls)
Cons
There have been a lot of changes over the past 3 years within Canada that have resulted in many cons and a shift in how the business treats its employees and operates. - Constant revamping and clean up of teams and leaders - Canada claims to be growing, but the size of the team has decreased at an eery rate (the turnover is atrocious; you will not find many folks that have been with the company over 5 years) - Culture of panic and finger pointing each month; the state of your performance can be effected if you do or say the wrong thing, or if you seem to not be “cutting it” - Myopic President - No Canadian manufacturing and consistent US delays is disengaging to deal with Overall, depending on what’s important to you, Southwire May or may not be the fit for you. The constant unsteadiness and lack of security is a definite concern felt through all employees. It’s not the worst place in the world, but there is a lot of improvement and work to be done in some key areas.
