Cons
Insultingly low pay for the work they demand. Managers are passive aggressive, condescending blowhards who micromanage, harass, threaten and bully tutors over the slightest imperfection. Little warning or notice is given for last-minute bookings, and the tutors are punished for it if they are unable to make that lesson. They require you to be logged in and on standby for the duration of your shift, without paying you for the time you spend online. You are only paid for the time you spend teaching. Additionally, you are NOT paid for last-minute cancellations by students. It was commonplace that I started a shift with a full schedule and, due to last-minute cancellations, only ended up teaching 2 students that day, drastically reducing my pay.
To make matters worse, they indiscriminately lay off tutors as part of their "restructuring" strategy. They did not give any explanation as to why I was laid off, and completely ceased communication with me after they did so.
