Unsupportive and poor management depending on your department. During my time at Spin Master, I began to question my own mental well-being due to the lack of support and verbal abuse given by my managers. They seemed to be stuck in their ways and were passive to venture into anything new - even if it would better their teams/department. They were unwilling to learn new techniques and practices already in place at other properly functioning companies. There were multiple occasions where other team members and even myself were embarrassed and verbally assaulted in front of the departments/employees. There was clear and reported favoritism and sexism, leading to unqualified promotions and title changes. Despite the reported abuse HR never intervened or followed up, resulting in high turnover rates in a short amount of time. Even freelancers/contractors that were offered extensions or full-time refused to join. They valued friend-connections vs. qualified individuals resulting in teams/department made up of friends rather than those qualified for the job. In one instance I too was being pressured to hire a friend of a department employee despite the skill level required for the job; a conflict that resulted in the highly needed role being terminated.
