Pros

Spring Academy has really caring and supportive staff. From the fellow teachers to the admin/owner, they are always looking for ways to help and support you with students. It is hard to put into words how much of a caring environment there is here. Aside from great coworkers, the schedule is flexible based on the number of hours that you want to work. Teachers get to dictate most of the decisions for their students classes. I also feel like I have a direct impact on the development of Spring Academy because we openly discuss new ideas or things to offer. There are many things I do in my work here besides teaching that I can add to my resume.

Cons

Small work environment may be a con to some. I would like to remain here for a long time, but I'm not sure how long term employment will look in terms of salary and my personal career goals.

Pros

The annual contract is from October to May, so if you have school age children this aligns well with your family needs. The hourly wage is very rewarding, and health, dental and vision benefits are available. Retirement benefits (401k) are available. The company culture is very collegial and free from curricula constraints due to school board contracts; teachers work together to continuously review curriculum and make improvements.

Cons

This is a great company! The only downside is that you may outgrow the need to work only 8 months out of the year as your children mature. This is an ideal opportunity for a teacher desiring to work part time.

Pros

Spring Academy's supervisors are kind, supportive, and easy to work with. They compensate their employees to meetings, phone calls, and drive time. They specifically handle the bulk of school and parent communication, leaving teachers stress-free and able to focus on the students. There is flexibility for teachers to create curriculum around each child's specific goals.

Cons

One to one instructors will always be a part time position, which might not be the best financial situation for some teachers. Schedules often fill up, but sometimes a teacher's schedule is at the mercy of the district/school assessments being completed and approved. So there might be some time with an uneven work day/week while waiting.
