Pros

Yes life in Steiner has been great for a chosen few. But for the silent majority, life has been miserable, especially lately. We are tired of reading these unrealistic, overtly generous praises that are apparently coming from the privileged few. These positive reviews are a desperate damage control written by the editorial board: The CEO & the HR! Yet people are quitting in droves.

Cons

This is NOT a great career choice for motivated employees. This place is run by nepotism. Now, this is a family owned company so certain amount of nepotism is expected, but it’s taken to another dimension in this company! You can be motivated all you want, you can work harder than anyone, you can even find the cure for cancer! You WILL NOT be promoted, nor will you get a raise! Who’s promoted, given a raise or hired is not based on your skills or experience but how easily you can be used as a pawn in inner petty politics. Some of the recent hires and promotions are incomprehensible. People with questionable track records are rewarded over and over again while the people who dedicated years of service with great performance are purposefully ignored.

As the owner of a family-own 4th generation business, it is important to address this concern directly. The writer’s choice of headline “NEPOTISM and RACISM” is disheartening. Steiner employs people without regard to race, color, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, national origin, protected veteran status, disability or any other characteristic protected by federal, state and local laws. We’ve had an open door policy that includes the President and every Steiner manager. In addition to the Kerman family, there are other families who have worked for Steiner for generations. We are grateful for their many accomplishments and service to Steiner over the last 99 years. As a family business, our time horizon for Steiner spans generations, not months or quarters. It is who we are. Rick Kerman

Fair salary and decent benefits. WFH. Skilled and knowledgeable managers.

Cons

Leadership team doesn't seem to welcome new voices or ideas and seem stuck in the way things have always been done.
