Pros

* Massive market opportunity there are millions of rental property investors and surprisingly little software to make their lives easier * Seasoned tech founders who have worked together multiple times, know the space (they are real estate investors) and understand how to build successful teams and companies * Best of both worlds--nimbleness of a startup with the backing of a Fortune 500 Company (JLL)

Cons

* I'm really scratching my head here trying to think of something...

Pros

I have been enjoying working at Stessa and I am confident you will too if you are a passionate engineer who’s looking for an awesome startup experience. There are no: 1. Massive, intimidating, and convoluted code bases that will hobble you and scare you away 2. bureaucratic processes 3. 3 hour-long meetings a day 4. Innumerable email threads for no reason 5. Some person sitting over there who you have no idea what he/she is working on If you want to experience 1. Building and shipping products/features fast (on your first day 😃 ) 2. Working with engineering team that’s striving to find a balance between code quality and “getting things done” (I know, this is hard) 3. Learn and solve new problems Then you should consider working with this team. I also like how engineering team is manage here; I have been in companies where the manager was involved in every aspect (what tool to use, how to code, one-on-one every week, etc.) and I’ve also been in a company where the manager just didn’t care what I do / how I do things. At Stessa, you will be under their guidance and expertise, but they won’t babysit you so you can learn and thrive on your own too.

Cons

There are some cons too. Sometimes, your work is not fully specified and you would have to use your best judgement to fill in the gaps. This can be frustrating especially if you are used to well written, fully specified stories/feature requests. You will probably have to wear many different hats; you might have to work on things that you have no prior experience/knowledge on. You can expect changes and shifts in the midst of the project.
