Pros
Sponsored my clearance and provided an opportunity to try out desktop support.
Cons
The pay was ridiculous. Starting salary was in the low $40k range (very bottom) in the Washington DC area. Other contractors working on the same project were getting close to $70k and were doing less work. I had to train people and do work that was outside of the job description.
When asked for a raise, they said the best that they could do would be a 3% raise that kept my pay at a low $40k mark. When I expressed my frustrations and put my two weeks notice in, I was told that I was unprofessional for taking my two weeks of leave (that I earned while working on site every day and being on call during the weekends which was outside of the job description) and leaving them high and dry.
Business wise this was a complete slap in the face and ever since I’ve left this company I began to thrive. Whoever reads this, do not accept the bare minimum because they will expect you to go above and beyond on your job to make the company look good. Check Glassdoor and other job sites to find the true salary range of these positions.
