Pros
High paced and highly energized work place. Results oriented so you get what you put in. Exciting industry, get to work with products that can make a difference. People you work with are very similar in drive and passion mainly due to the profiling test you take, the Gallup, during the interview. An ideal place if you want to be recognized for your hard work and results. Working with health care professionals is also very exciting. Compensation is competitive and the annual profit sharing to your 401K is very nice as well. The corporation has a track record of having good financial, especially their balance book.
Cons
Stryker can be very cut throat because of its highly paced environment. If you don't perform, you are quickly identified. However, the opposite is true as well. So, if you are not the type who thrives on competition and recognition based on performance, this is not a place for you. Also, the Gallup test can be very restrictive during the hiring process. They have gotten better but in the past, they used one profile matrix to hire every position. Obviously the same profile matrix for a sales or marketing position will not apply properly for an engineer or a manufacturing technician. Many good people in my opinion weren't even considered for this reason. Lastly, the HR isn't the most supportive organization. Again, they rely too heavily on the boiler plate Gallup model and misses the opportunity for individual employee development. The high turnover rate is a good indication for this.
