Pros

Being in the cases with surgeons

Cons

- 80+ work weeks with no overtime pay - No PTO or pay out for PTO -24/7 on call - Zero Days off -Treated more like a fraternity than a career. - Could come home at 2am and be expected to be back at the hospitals by 6am - Reps are “leading/managing” associates who have never been trained to lead or communicate properly in a corporate like atmosphere. Reps treat associates like a sports team in college who are the freshman scum. Expected to work ungodly hours and kiss the ground the reps walk on. Treated very disrespectfully -on average work 60 days straight before you can have a Sunday off but not really because your still expected to answer calls and be ready if they need you. Can’t drive the same car as your wife or go more than 50 miles away if you do happen to get one day off after at least 6 months of employment

Pros

The individual contributors you work with are fantastic people and the products we work on are really interesting and have significant impacts on patient care.

Cons

Sports Medicine has unfortunately changed from a dynamic and collaborative group to one being led by toxic leadership. Rather than working together and trusting team members, they now have an in group and out group. If you’re in the in group, you can say anything you want without being questioned and be automatically trusted even when your track record says otherwise. If you’re in the out group and your message doesn’t align with what the leadership wants to hear, then you are automatically wrong and not to be trusted.
