Pros

1. Pay is very good, especially for entry level 2. Many employees (with the reasonable exception of *upper* management) are very compassionate (two of my bosses at Stryker are the best I've ever had.) 3. Good work-life balance if you are diligent. (Those who complain about poor work-life balance usually bring that on themselves.) 4. Stryker takes Diversity and Inclusion very seriously.

Cons

1. this company has become increasingly political since I've started. Makng valuable contributions are less important than being someone's favorite. 2. I started as a contractor, and was (by most in the department) treated like a second-class helping hand, either shunned or ostracized by the people around me. Fair enough, I say (though that's maybe a bit generous). But this did not change after I was hired in. Two years later I still feel under-valued, despite repeated attempts to be more involved. 3. You're encouraged to reach out widely across the company to learn about what is happening. This is difficult because, at least 60% of the time emails will go unnoticed (especially if your job title doesn't include "Manager", "Director", or some more esteemed term. 4. Stryker markets its mission and values boldly both in and outside of the company; whether it lives up to those values is a different story. Most any big company is like this, so it's not a surprise that Stryker is no different. 5. I've seen a handful of times where high-level managers either contradict themselves, or deceive employees across multiple meetings. Dishonesty from upper-management is never a good sign.

Pros

The individual contributors you work with are fantastic people and the products we work on are really interesting and have significant impacts on patient care.

Cons

Sports Medicine has unfortunately changed from a dynamic and collaborative group to one being led by toxic leadership. Rather than working together and trusting team members, they now have an in group and out group. If you’re in the in group, you can say anything you want without being questioned and be automatically trusted even when your track record says otherwise. If you’re in the out group and your message doesn’t align with what the leadership wants to hear, then you are automatically wrong and not to be trusted.
