Better than other places in a lot of ways, but big on DEI and small raises - Senior Staff Engineer Stryker Employee Review

Pros

Cost for healthcare is only mildly high (~$5k/year family premium), awesome 11% total 401k contribution (50% match on the first 8% plus 7% annual discretionary contribution), generally a very friendly environment with good resources provided.

Cons

Raises have been less than inflation for the last 3 years. Everyone is a part of the inclusion drive except for white men, but that's the way of the world now. It'd be nice if they'd at least throw us a bone like some of my prior employers by creating a "volunteering" ERG or something to that effect -- anything that we could join to meet their DEI goals, which are a big deal here. As it is, I feel very marginalized at the corporate level, although the local management is great.

Pros

The individual contributors you work with are fantastic people and the products we work on are really interesting and have significant impacts on patient care.

Cons

Sports Medicine has unfortunately changed from a dynamic and collaborative group to one being led by toxic leadership. Rather than working together and trusting team members, they now have an in group and out group. If you’re in the in group, you can say anything you want without being questioned and be automatically trusted even when your track record says otherwise. If you’re in the out group and your message doesn’t align with what the leadership wants to hear, then you are automatically wrong and not to be trusted.
