Pros
The flexibility in my curriculum. The professional development day provided lunches. Some amazing students and parents.
Cons
The administration places to much added responsibilities on the teaching staff without compensation. All professional development days are mandatory, many run late into your own time, again without any compensation. Too many unnecessary meetings that could easily be placed into an email or Google doc. Lowest pay in the area with some of the toughest behavior issues with students. Behavior teams in both buildings is a joke, as students are returned to class with no or little consequences for their actions. (Much favoritism amongst them with students.) (When students are asking to 'hang out' in the behavioral room rather than be in class. It's a major red flag! Not nearly enough curriculum resources. Teachers are expected to figure it out on their own, with just a curriculum map as a guide. Outdated resources and refusal to purchase newer much needed material! Teachers are expected to finance so much of the stuff that should be provided by the schoolboard, out of pocket. Admistration that doesn't take your concerns or needs seriously. Training sessions that are to long, many repetitive, some outdated, and majority of teachers walk out having learned little to nothing. .
