Pros
- Flexible work schedule - Free/ discounted food
Cons
- Management was absolutely horrible… I got thrown into an entirely different position than what I was hired for. - Hours were cut with little to absolutely no notice - Management would cancel your shift while you were already on your way to work. - Screamed at for having a drink of water because it was a “rush” - Management accused a server of stealing, they ended up being wrong. - Trained servers for the position you did just so they didn’t have to pay you for more hours. - Little to no breaks. Sat down for maybe three minutes to eat. (Twice out of the years I’ve been there) - No clarity to where tips would go. Owner’s purposefully gave me an extra dollar an hour as a “tip-out” as a means to avoid paying me minimum wage. Owners would take the tips I received and put them in register, saying they were “split among the staff”, they weren’t. Owners kept extra money, chefs made salary, servers would pocket their tips and bussers/dishwashers maybe only received a couple dollars out of this “tip out” that “everyone contributed to.” - No team building or actual good work environment. Chefs would argue constantly during a rush, one almost walked out. Management had to beg chefs to stay. - Owners, Chefs and Servers were rude to you and constantly rushed you/would berate you for small things. - Had to sort through the owners personal set of keys for the garbage chute because he didn’t want to do it + he didn’t know which key it was.
