The company was really turning a corner for the better when a new COO was brought onto the team in 2020. Much better work-life balance, more understanding of team capabilities, just an overall positive culture shift. That individual, however, was let go when new management came in during the company's merger in early 2021, and the departure was felt.
With the new ownership group, it was very much a "get in line with the company" style of management, which meant opinions of lower-level employees (basically anyone under supervisor level) were basically ignored. It definitely came across as micromanagement, which never works, and the SEO side was becoming an "assembly line" style of production and very little experimentation, testing, etc.
This could be a good place to work for someone just entering the digital marketing workplace, but for a more established employee, I'm not sure I'd advise them to work here.
The "new" HLM is by no means a bad company, but I think there are still a lot of moving parts and with that comes negative aspects. Hopefully everything gets sorted out in the future.
