Pros

-good, hard working people -close knit community

Cons

-toxic working environment -they claim performance based reward but never evaluate holistically on the performance (very unfair treatment) -always tight timeline, no good planning in advance -super political and hierarchical working culture (pretty atypical start up environment) -promotion is very unlikely if you don’t speak about it -co-founder’s work is often conflicting to company’s IP or research -super high turnover rate in employee and trouble to retent many many good talents -very stingy on work compensation and 401 k plan.

Pros

- Cutting-edge research - Highly collaborative and dedicated scientists and research associates - Senior management team with many years of drug discovery experience - Top notch human resources, administrative, and finance personnel, with regular leadership training offered to everyone to foster a great company culture (way better than the long hours I spent self-studying) - Recognition of individual's contributions to corporate goals as reflected in promotions, salary raises, and bonuses - Well-funded with modern equipments - Great insurance plans for a startup company - Free snacks, coffee, soda, vegetables, and fruits for employees - Free gym and beautiful Bay Trail downstairs to go with a friend or co-worker (the only challenge is to find the time...)

Cons

- 401k matching could be better :) - Timelines are always tight so proper prioritization needs to be exercised regularly (As a group leader, I am guilty myself for not doing enough of it)
