Pros

This is by far one of the easiest jobs I've had once you get your product information down. It's straight forward if you are comfortable with your people soft skills. Handful of friendly lower level management and support staff.

Cons

When I was originally hired we were considered the best paying, and best managed call center in the state. By the time I left, management had changed for a few years to the rule of three men. Two who had never been agents themselves, or tried to relate to any of the agents. The third who had originally started as an agent was known as The Hammer. For his personality that is. Over thanksgiving there were trash bags piling up in the restrooms, hallways, and cafeteria due to mismanagement of cleaning staff. Multiple managers who were reported for sexual harassment with no action taken. Mental toll of negative customers surrounded by a toxic environment of constant swearing and unprofessional behavior. Strict policing of breaks, (Bathroom included) and routine removal of all snacks, and personalization from working area.

Pros

Remote work and great coworkers

Cons

Extremely low pay for the amount of work and the type of calls that you have to deal with. Lots of mircomanaging. Unrealistic metrics. Lack of knowledge and competency from leadership because at no point should your workers know more than you about the job itself. No care for unforseen life circumstances that affect your ability to work. Very stressful and mentally exhausting which often leads to burnout. No recognition for hard work and meeting metric goals. Too hard to get PTO approved. Tech and internal systems are always breaking which affects your ability to do your job. No one is ever on the same page which often leads to being given incorrect information. No room for growth or opportunities to go into other roles. Benefits are not that great. Mid health insurance plans, no 401K match, no parental leave, and no internet reimbursements. They'll sell you a fairytale in training so BEWARE.
