Pros
The people you work with in the sale department are amazing. They are still some of the best friends I have, and I would visit Fort Wayne just to see them. Mike Clem is also likely the smartest person in E-commerce, and he genuinely believes in the Sales Engineer centric model, he has done amazing things to create tools that benefit the sales-marketing cooperation.
Cons
This job can burn you out. As a person with ADHD, it destroyed my competency in a few areas because I was unable to mono task for long periods of time. Since any Sales Engineer's customer can call in and make your phone ring, and your answer rate is tracked and enforced. Your attention is essentially held by the whims of the public. Then while you're being put in an environment where you're essentially blocked from mono tasking, your going to be coached to do many good proactive things that will help you earn more money, but they require time spent mono-tasking which means either showing up early or staying late inorder to get your 6 hours of available time plus actually have time to mono task the proactive stuff. My main issue is that they let the sales VP tell a few lies. I didn't know that you weren't supposed to take management at face value so I was disappointed when some changes that were promised to be fully tested and working before they were deployed were completely broken for the first week.
