Some may see this as a con; however, I treat this as a pro. - Small team of collaborative, smart, easy-to-get along with professionals. - Product is generally very solid with few competitors, solving a real problem. - Startup environment with opportunities for self-starters and generalists to shine as new problems present themselves, whether internally or externally (customer-facing).
Cons
- Many employees are siloed, with no comprehensive plan to effectively combat this. - Lack of professional development and career advancement opportunities. - Leadership makes decisions in a reactionary, ad hoc, knee-jerk and often arbitrary way, leading to inconsistent outcomes. - Lack of alignment among teams. With no north star to follow, teams are generally not moving in the same direction with different priorities. - Lack of consistent goal setting, project management, and measurement of business activities.
