Pros

The pay was ok for me (>100k). Even higher for others in Dev Ops position.

Cons

There seems to be some competency problem in the team. Products (the new ones) seem to contain a higher than normal number of serious architectural defects as well as ordinary implementation defects. People seem to be busy (management seems to be the busiest) but the results seem to be next to non existent. They have minimum new working functionalities, while fixing very minimal impact issues with the old products. In other words, they don't seem to work from a result view point. Management seems to be happy when people come to the office and be there on time and enough time. I felt like I had management, team leads and team members not leading or functioning better than me but for some reason get paid more than me and act like they are better than me. The most important thing is company's core value seem to be clearly not useful things to make paying customers happy. Core value is something else, very non-market related. This company is clearly not a market-driven company.

Pros

[From a Sales perspective...] 1. Great opportunity to learn all aspects of Sales, from customer identification, needs analysis, negotiation/closing, and account management. 2. Company treats top performers extremely well; these folks are often allowed to climb company ladder quickly, and are given much flexibility to do the job as they see fit (assuming they continue to hit and exceed quota). 3. A lot of good, smart people both in field sales and in Sales management. Very supportive team, and a fun group.

Cons

[From a Sales perspective...] 1. I must have had a dozen different sales plans in ten years with the company (five years with Sysomos, and five previously with their parent company, Marketwired). The company was continually changing and modifying the plan, which was frustrating at times as a commissioned-based rep. 2. Poor communication from the top on down; I often felt out of the loop as to what the company was thinking strategically, in addition to what was coming down the product pipeline. 3. Company did a less than stellar job of recognizing and rewarding top performers. Yes, total comp was fair, but it would have been nice to receive added bonuses or other rewards based on continual success year after year. This did not exist. 4. Unclear, undefined career path. Yes, the company did approach me at times with opportunities for other positions within the org. But this was a very unstructured process.
