Pros

Big company, so if you are new to the business it’s an excellent way to gain valuable industry experience as an entry level employee. If you stay in a related business the name helps as most in the industry will know about Taiyo and look at that favorably as the experience translates well in the field. Good benefits and PTO policies. You go in earlier so you also get to leave earlier than most companies but they’re also really flexible with remote/in office schedules once you’ve gained enough experience in the role. Annual raises plus bonuses as well, although bonuses are tied to extra performance which irritates some new employees.

Cons

Pay is going to be a tad lower than average for similar roles but I think that pertains to many Japanese companies. This helps them stay lean so layoffs are uncommon even when business is slower. Not really a con, but it is a big business with a bottom line so you have to stay on top of your work and remain organized at all times. It seems many of the negative reviews are tied to this point as it definitely is not for everyone and I saw that most people who struggled had a hard time with this.

Pros

You start early so you can leave early.

Cons

My main issues were: • Deathly quiet office. You won’t get to know your coworkers. • Poor training. All training at UTY is based around people handing you a work process and telling you to figure it out. On multiple occasions if someone asked me a question and I was unsure of the answer, the person I would ask would say, “they should know that, why are they asking”. It’s not an easy environment to ask questions in. I have other complaints but those are the main ones that will apply to anyone at any position I think.
