Cons
People are afraid to give feedback. Micromanaging - little to no autonomy is given to employees in performing their job. Overworking is a badge of honour and is not only expected, but celebrated. Burnout is a real issue. Lack of opportunity for professional development and growth. Quarterly and yearly checkins with arbitrary goals/targets that often don’t fit into the bigger picture. And if you meet, or exceed your targets, they are just increased so that you have no longer met them. Little or strained interaction between employees and other employees or management. Social cliques, gossiping, toxic environment. Favouritism and office politics. Aggressive, condescending, bullying behaviour. Mental health is glossed over and not properly addressed. Staff are hesitant to take sick days in fear of falling behind. Overly concerned with “culture fit” in the hiring process, yet employees are not trusted.
