Remote Chaos: No Leadership, No Direction, No Future - Sr. Solutions Engineer Team Focus Insurance Group Employee Review

Pros

They’ll mail you a coffee mug with the company logo and host occasional “mandatory fun” Zoom happy hours. You might get a branded hoodie once a year. They love to promote “flexibility,” but in reality, you're just always online and expected to be available 24/7. If surface-level remote perks are your thing, you'll be thrilled.

Cons

The President is completely disconnected from employees and micromanages through layers of ineffective leadership. Decisions change weekly with no explanation. Career growth is nonexistent, and recognition is rare unless you're part of the inner circle. Communication is poor, accountability is worse, and turnover is sky-high. Working remotely doesn’t protect you from toxic leadership—it just isolates you while it happens.

Pros

The company is solid, and the leadership team has a lot of good experience. They understand the insurance industry and know what it is like to work as a service rep, underwriter, tech, etc. The company has been doing much better the last few years, and signing more clients, which results in better pay and advancement. Being a fully remote workplace gives me alot of flexibility but the virtual interaction over teams is still great

Cons

Being remote you do miss in-person interactions

Pros

Remote work is their model.

Cons

While this company has an impressive product offering and a strong market presence, the internal culture offers little to be desired. The environment fosters an unhealthy level of competition among employees, where backstabbing and undermining colleagues are often rewarded. Rather than encouraging teamwork and collaboration, many employees seem more focused on vying for the attention and approval of top leadership at the expense of mutual respect and collective success. This dynamic not only creates a tense and distrustful atmosphere but also stifles innovation and morale. Talented individuals are often overlooked unless they are willing to play the political game, leaving true team players feeling unsupported and undervalued. For a company that prides itself on excellence, this cultural issue is a glaring contradiction and one that will likely hinder its long-term growth if not addressed. Leadership must take active steps to promote transparency, fairness, and collaboration to create a truly thriving workplace. Until then, proceed with caution if you value a supportive and cooperative professional environment.
