Pros

- Most motivated and hard working team I've ever worked with. - Office-wide mentality that no question is a stupid question, making it an amazing learning environment. - Super flexible hours towards your life's needs: so long as you are there for meetings, when your project team needs you, and getting your work done there's no problems. Can schedule appointments and other life events mid-day when necessary. - Team is constantly discussing how improvements can be made, and management is getting better and better at effective implementation. - Team hangs out a lot outside of work, the company has a "family" feel to it. - Overtime isn't paid out as work/life balance is promoted. Management requests that you plan a vacation if you've worked copious extra hours for project pushes. - Company is growing, and any advice on improvement of internal systems is appreciated. This allows for a feeling of having an active role in developing your workplace towards your needs. - Office-wide mentality of doing what is right by customers and employees. - Really interesting work cutting-edge work. - Many 3D printers & other cool R&D equipment, employees can use for personal projects when not obstructing company needs. - As it's a relatively small company, you get to wear a lot of hats and learn a lot beyond your exact job title.

Cons

- Doesn't come with a slow-paced heavy-mentorship start. To be effective here you need to be self-driven and willing to ask lots of questions. If you sit and wait for help you won't make it. - This company does a lot of custom work. Upfront estimates can be very challenging, and projects can present curve balls that require overtime to stay on timeline. Major efforts are being made to reduce risks like this, which is appreciated.

Pros

You may well obtain skills for production line industry using lasers and cameras or develop some prototype fabrication/modeling capabilities. This could be transferable to other jobs and assembly line corporations but not in my case. Good place if you want to apply SolidWorks 3D modeling or Visual Studio C++ programming to Ethernet data communications and controls.

Cons

I was told that I would be developing prototypes which never happened. Application of my skills is not well appreciated. Uncompensated overtime is expected. Insane schedule to meet task milestones and goals. Your movements are constantly monitored. Management can be overbearing and condescending. Accomplishments disregarded and faults underscored. Do not expect a supportive letter of recommendation. I wrote one for a co-op student since management did not provide. Demeaning corporate culture (nothing is what it seems) and sweatshop environment. Not entering this work experience in my resume.

Pros

- Amazing culture - the team hangs out often outside of work, very casual atmosphere, snacks, drinks, great coffee - Really bright team of engineers and support staff - everyone is extremely competent due to a thorough hiring process - Interesting and challenging robotics and vision projects. Very cool and rewarding to see project's end result. - You can tell that management really cares about and respects their employees and customers - it shows out in everything they do. - Five stars - it really is that great.

Cons

- Structure is still being put in place as the company is experiencing lots of growth and has more projects that they can handle. So there are definitely growing pains in areas like resource allocation and needing to work some overtime when projects closing. Process is currently being put in place to iron out these kinks.
