Cons
I did a data collection project with these folks and it was very difficult to get paid. I e-mailed the coordinator of this project five times until I received my payment. When I finally received it, it was sent wrong on Paypal in a way that skimmed processing fees from the final amount and put the payment on hold for seven days. I refunded them the payment and explained to them that the payment needed to be sent correctly via the friends and family option on Paypal and was ignored. I sent the project coordinator 10 e-mails explaining that the payment was sent wrong and that it needed to be sent correctly and pleaded with him or her to let the Finances department know to no avail. So I opened a case with the Better Business Bureau. The project coordinator then contacted me with hardly any options for a resolution. They wanted me to sign a direct deposit form with my bank information (Nope, that wasn't going to happen) or to resend the payment in the jacked-up way it had been sent before on Paypal. I said it can be sent via Venmo or a similar non-Paypal payment, via a paper check, or that the Better Business Bureau could continue to look into it. Since that response, I was put in limbo by them with no resolution right around and running straight into Christmas and into the new year - over three weeks later. The Better Business Bureau ruled the case as being outside of the scope of what they handle, which is consumer complaints. However, they did advise me that I'm well within my rights to get a collections agent or lawyer involved to help me get what is owed to me and I sent their Finances department two e-mails yesterday, explaining this, but I was ignored. I finally decided to just request the amount owed to me via Paypal with the processing fees being skimmed from the final amount and it being put on hold for seven days since it is against their company policy to send it via the friends and family option on Paypal. I also had to e-mail and call them to follow up on this. The moral of the story: You have to accept the payment being skimmed and put on hold on Paypal for seven days, even if you're unhappy with this method because they won't send the payment any other way.
