Pros

Decent benefits, nice people to work with

Cons

Low pay scale for role they need you to fill. Don't expect raises or cost of living increases. They are trying to separate from hiring out of college kids. They hack your personal phone and delete everything when you leave. They only reimburse 75 for phone and expense mileage for use of your own vehicle.

Terracon Response

Terracon’s commitment to being Incident and Injury Free TM (IIFTM) over the past decade has been transformative. A focus on care and concern for each other has made us a truly better company. Together we have significantly reduced injuries and made Terracon and our project sites safer places to work. Our culture of safety is reflected in positive company safety performance trends over the past eight years. We strive daily to demonstrate transparency and honest communication about our safety culture and our safety record. That said, earlier this year, we were tragically reminded that no matter how far we have come, our safety journey is ongoing and will always be. For the first time in our more than 55-year history, a Terracon team member lost his life on a project site. We have a responsibility to our employees and to his memory to learn from this tragedy and recommit to our promise of looking out for each other and making sure everyone goes home safe every day. We will continue to use every means available to build on our safety culture, improve our safety program, and work every day to be incident- and injury-free. If you desire to discuss specific concerns we are glad to put you in touch with our Safety Director.

Pros

You have sustainable hours for construction but there is mandatory overtime (The most I’ve done is 51 hours in a week), they pay you enough to live on, it’s good experience, upper management pays lip service to workers rights, there is genuine concern and regulation from management to provide you an emotionally and physically safe place to work, you’re never really rushed to do your job, and you do have the right to stop work

Cons

You need a degree in engineering or geology to move up and you have to threaten to move offices or take another job to get a pay raise. It’s not unionized.
