Pros
The original founders cared deeply about building a good product and culture.
I learned a lot about outbound sales, resilience, and perseverance.
New hires and promotions in Marketing and Business Development as I was leaving seemed promising.
Cons
Leadership under Commify is inexperienced and plays office politics. The leader, who was born on third base, has never actually done the job he expects his team to do. Decisions are often made to save money, not to set employees up for success.
I spent my first three years exclusively on outbound sales while everyone else got inbound opportunities only. When I finally got a chance, leadership suddenly required me to go back to 75% outbound. Meanwhile, team members who contributed nothing to revenue for 6+ months and never reached quota were kept on and even promoted.
My role and responsibilities were handed to three less experienced reps that I personally hired and trained, simply because they were cheaper. That may make sense financially, but the way leadership handled it showed a complete lack of respect.
I was told my “attitude” was the issue. In reality, I was placed on a PIP that leadership literally built using ChatGPT. I chose to leave on my own rather than give them the satisfaction of firing me. No severance, no acknowledgment, just five years dismissed overnight.
In one meeting, when I raised concerns about fairness and accountability, I was validated by leadership, but nothing was done. In another situation, A grieving employee was told not to use the death of his mom as an excuse for low numbers because they lost parents too. That level of unprofessionalism and lack of empathy is unacceptable from someone in that position.
Across sales and success, “green” leaders with no real experience were being promoted into roles they weren’t equipped to handle. To this day, I still receive calls from sales members asking for advice. I only want success for these people, but I wanted to be honest and straight up with anyone considering a role with this company.
