Pros
- They sort of attempt to work with your schedule? But just barely. Most of the time this is to them grumbling and griping about you needing special hours and then later complaining louder about it and making you feel horrible for daring to ask for specific hours or just a specific day off.
Cons
- More than happy to lie to your face to get you to sign the contract. - High pressure contacts to 'start ASAP'. - Even after you sign the paperwork it's no guarantee that you will be making the amount promised or given the amount of hours promised in the interview. (BRING A TAPE RECORDER!! ) - They abuse a clause in their contract that if you 'quit' they do not have to pay you for unemployment. This means that if THEY fail to keep good records, they can claim that you told them you quit and report this to the Texas Workforce Commission. Prepare for a few months of a headache and pray you can get TWC to side with you, but don't expect to get unemployment from this. If I had not recorded one phone conversation where they openly admitted that they didn't have any records saying that I had 'no longer wished to work at a particular company' then I would have been out unemployment. It still took me 2 months beforeI could get paid for anything. - They like to claim you'll get x amount of hours but they spread it out between multiple jobs. So you're not contracted to just one place and your hours differ from week to week. You could work a couple of days in an office, be bouncer at some random concert event and then a ticket taker at a carnival all in one week and then next week, who knows? - You get paid differently for each job. So it's no guarantee you'll be able to make ends meet. - This is where that 'clause' gets you. The 'job' is not what they can get you for quitting. It's no longer working for that particular temp service. - They claim there's 'always someone at the office on the weekends'. But no matter what hour you call at, no one EVER answers on the weekend OR calls you back. I spent one weekend calling 15 times both on Saturday and another 15 on Sunday. No one ever answered. If you're scheduled to work on a weekend and you need to reach them for what ever reason you're pretty much at a loss. - They do not keep good records. They kept loosing my information, they kept trying to schedule me for OTHER jobs when I was already working a particular job on the day they wanted me to work at the same time, then would get upset at me for "Making it difficult to schedule work". Even though THEY were the ones who scheduled the jobs. Which means they do not even look at the schedules they themselves created for you. - They have multiple agents that will handle your case. This leads to further confusion due to the lack of note taking and file loss and leads to agents making up things to cover their rears. At one point one agent removed me from working with a client and didn't write anything down, but another agent claimed they said, "The worker said they didn't want to work there anymore." Which I had not said. I only said I wished I could get more hours. - Better be used to traveling and dealing with the absolute WORST of traffic. Due to the random locations you might work at could be doing a lot of driving with absolutely no compensation, be it in bus fares or gas and always be sent to the worst areas to try and travel in.
