Pros

The owners treat the employees like family. I have been with the company for over 6 years and have been a guest since 1988. I love it! Some employees have been there for over 30 years and most have been with the Angus Barn for at least 5-15 years. The management and staff are all very supportive. I feel like a superstar when I go to work! The restaurant seats about 750 people and has about 1000 reservations each night (1200 on weekends). During the holiday weekends, the reservations total about 1600. The check average is usually high and the potential to sell wine allows you to increase your sales which increases your tips if you are a server. Even though the Angus Barn has a family feel to it, it is very organized and structured. Servers attend monthly wine classes and regular meetings (15 minutes on Saturdays to hand out weekly awards and each night before service to discuss expected reservations and menu changes). Each position has a particular side work with written instructions. Employee benefits include health insurance, 401k, nightly meals in the breakroom, discounts on food while at work and at the retail store, free appetizers when dining as a guest. I cannot say enough wonderful things about the Angus Barn! If you think it is a great place to dine, it's an even better place to work!!

Cons

The training is extensive (28-30 days as a server who is paid at least minimum wage while training), but once you have it, you'll be happy that you did. During the holidays, the hours are long but the money is great! As a server, the side work is very important and takes about 30 minutes prior to opening and about an hour after closing. (I usually took longer than most people. Some people could do it faster.)

Pros

The only pro there is if you work at night. Night crew tends to be acknowledged more than day crew. There's literally no other positive, if you work during the day.

Cons

Where to begin? All these cons are coming from a day perspective, so keep that in mind. This place would literally crumble to ash if it weren't for day crew. Day crew makes sure night crew is ready to go, be sure night crew literally does nothing but makes food for the customers and heads out. There's no respect for day crew, absolutely none. The owner, Van Eure, is as fake as they come. She puts on a facade that she cares about everyone, and that's absolutely a lie. She has more respect for the night crew because they interact with customers. Day crew gets trashed on. Management is awful as well. There's no communication for anything that changes and they tend to adhere to what they think is easy, not what is necessary. As far as coworkers, there's also no respect. It is a job, and we're supposed to do that, but it should be a stable and healthy work environment. It most definitely isn't. When I worked there I wanted to jump off a cliff after every shift. From the lack of respect from management to the back stabbers that are day crew. This place is good for your resume, but overall, you'll lose yourself and your sanity. Those whom have been working there for DECADES have been fully brainwashed and don't know there's better out there.
