Pros
I worked in a small, supportive and caring department.
In my department there was flexibility in terms of prioritising workload, what needs to be marked, how to teach lessons and what exam questions should be covered.
The school has a lot of resources, text books, revision material, past exam papers and you can print any worksheet any time.
Cons
Behaviour is terrible, sometimes it's so shocking that you don't know how to deal with the situation as a teacher. You're in disbelief and think 'is this really happening?' I heard things come out of students' mouth which are so vile and nasty and I had worked in other schools with behaviour problems but Basildon Academies is the worst. There is little support from the pastural team and SLT with the terrible behaviour in this school. Teaching is a high risk jobs - with schools like Basildon Academies, it becomes even riskier and you'll be out of a job. The pupils misbehave so badly and have no care towards their learning, the administration blames you for everything and then you are at risk of a disciplinary meeting, The useless administration in this school pretend that things are not so bad. Some teachers even said the school should be shut down.
