Pros

- 40% clothing discount - Friends and family monthly gift cards ($75 for $100)

Cons

- Commission-based work becomes predatory, meaning that coworkers will steal each other's services and customers! - Sales Presentation Guides (SPGs) are overly pushed on employees and are unnecessary. You can get put on "Commitment to Success" (Buckle's version of probation) for not using your SPG (a piece of paper kept in your pocket tracking which items you have shown and sold to every customer that comes in. - Leader In Training position is paid the same as the entry-level teammate position - Micro-management - Accruing sign-ups for the Buckle Credit Card is forced on employees as the main part of their job. Teammates must ask every guest if they want the credit card a minimum of three times during their shopping. - Lecturing "poor behavior" in front of other coworkers and customers is commonly done by management to invoke fear and shame within the retail associate.

Pros

-Good work-life balance. -Team-building is encouraged. -The experience can vary by location. -Buckle has the potential to have some of the best retail teams, depending on the store. -There are opportunities for growth and career advancement for employees who have supportive leadership.

Cons

Management's willingness to lead, communicate effectively, and support employees is what creates opportunities for growth, but that was not my experience at this location. I felt the work environment was negatively affected by inconsistent communication, a leadership style that felt overly controlling, and discussions about employees that appeared to undermine teamwork and trust. I believe a more respectful, supportive, and collaborative approach to leadership would create a healthier workplace culture and better support both employees and the overall success of the store.
