Pros
- A chance to work with employees who are passionate about the insurance industry - Genuine desire and effort to improve the healthcare insurance experience for the insurance carrier and employers and others
Cons
Ahhh- where shall I begin? -Dysfunctional hierarchy: Lower level employees are limited in decision making authority - instead that power is centralized with upper-level leaders. The consequence reduced motivation & productivity, feeling disempowered and increase in distrust. If you want to make positive impact as a lower level employee you must incept ideas like a jedi. -No opportunities for upward mobility at all. There are a lot of power hungry/status seeking leaders who do not nurture and promote the lower level employees that have shown promise, loyalty, and high performance. -limited communication flow (not top-down, but bottom-up): the hierarchy is so rigid that there is no way for lower level employees to provide ideas, feedback, or constructive criticism to top management. completely disregard for those who are on the front lines of the business. rigid chain of command. - lack of diversity: a lot of old, white men. -where passion dies: if you're someone who truly enjoys practicing in your profession avoid this place. unless you are a narcissist they will take an advantage of your passion if you let them. leaving you burnout and in poor mental and physical health.
