Pros
The only reason I stayed as long as I did was because I liked working with the other employees.
Cons
Owner #1 wanted to retire. Enter private equity firm. Owner #2 wanted to retire. Enter the market (IPO). Share prices at an all time low. Enter Melissa promoted to CEO. Under Melissa’s “leadership” the stock price tanked. She insisted on layoffs when the rest of the board did not agree. Targeted long time employees (10-30 years of service). Handled the layoff very poorly. As a result of this and the miserable leadership of the CEO, employee morale has also tanked. Melissa, where was the former Melissa that actually cared about the employees? The Melissa that we remember asked for us to “hold hands” for 3 years with no raises and no 401k? How many people did you lose in those 3 years??? Then, she decided to fire the CIO and moved her puppet from store leadership to the CIO position. Promoted a director to be his right hand. Next thing we know? That director/Sr Director/VP walked in, said I quit and never came back. Out of 7 IT directors, 5 have left. Wake up Melissa. You might be able to fix it if you made better decisions. I would have held hands and even accepted a salary cut if it would have saved those 100 employees who still hurt today. Shame on you. The “We care for our employees” T-shirt’s should say “We USED to care for our employees.
