Pros

I worked at Ginger many years ago, and it was my very first real design job outside of school. Andrew really took a chance on me, and I will forever be grateful to him and the team at Ginger for taking me under their wing and teaching me everything I know. I’ve always kept in touch with Andrew so he could see how far I’ve come in my career because I owe so much of my success to him. I loved the variety of work I got to do there and it really set the foundation for my whole career.

Cons

The only reason I moved on is because I decided to make the move to Toronto to experience life. If Ginger had an office here, I may even still be working there!

Pros

The culture, team, and meaningful work have made Ginger a truly rewarding place for me to work. Firstly, Ginger’s portfolio of clients and partners is exceptional. We work with some of the most thoughtful, strategic, and forward-thinking organizations in the province and beyond, and it makes every day interesting, challenging, and meaningful. Days are busy, but the work is engaging and varied. The team is another major strength. Ginger has some super-skilled marketers, communicators and amazingly talented designers, and there is a genuine sense of shared success across the team. People support one another, step in when needed, and work toward common goals. It’s a collaborative environment that makes a real difference day to day. The Fredericton office is bright, airy, and a productive place to work.

Cons

The agency uses pretty robust operational platforms that take some learning, but once you understand them, they help provide clear workflows and efficient project management.

Pros

- Some members of the leadership team, particularly the President and VPs, were a bright spot. They demonstrated competence, passion, and a genuine effort to foster collaboration. - On the ground colleagues were supportive and dedicated to their work.

Cons

- The workplace culture is toxic. Psychological safety was nonexistent—feedback wasn’t welcome, opinions weren’t valued at the top level, and employees were constantly monitored, even when working remotely. You can see this in the turnover that has occurred at this organization over the past 2 years. - Prioritization was on profitability over employee well-being, but there was no reward structure to compensate employees who excelled in performance. - A lack of clear processes and support for key roles created confusion and frustration, especially for new hires. This was exacerbated by an overwhelming workload that made it impossible to focus effectively on clients or team development. - The emphasis on "time theft" and micromanagement fostered a culture of mistrust and further alienated employees from leadership. - This is not a normal work environment and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
