Pros
I learned SO MUCH in my time with The Howard Group. As an actor and improviser, I was looking for a job that gave me the opportunity to flex my customer service muscles while still performing. Kevin and the whole team really work hard to ensure that you are prepared for, comfortable with, and excited about the work you're doing. I learned more about myself and about the industry in just a few months of doing gigs with this company that I did in years of acting professionally. If I hadn't moved out of state, I would have easily continued working for them for the long haul. Every senior-level employee at the company strives to make sure that their staff and team is taken care of. Everyone in the administrative team goes above and beyond, which in turn makes those of us on the creative side of things want to do our very best work for our clients. I'm grateful for the many opportunities I was given, and for the incredible people I met in my time working for this company.
Cons
Unpaid training does create some challenges, though I understand why the company must do it to ensure that the folks they hire are prepared and to make sure they stick around. Truly, it's hard to come up with many cons as the company is incredible upfront about the work you'll be doing, the training period, and the job requirements. So considering that new hires are given all of this information right from the get-go, there are truly no surprises.
