Pros
-Dedicated teams -Great benefits and flexibility -Inspiring work and stories from the field -Decent job stability. There were layoffs a few years ago, but none since.
Cons
-Salaries for manager/director-levels and below aren't competitive -Rotating door of leadership and ED. EDs have lasted only 1-2 years for the past 10 years. Currently looking for yet another ED. Lost three black female senior leaders in 2020. -Challenges with internal culture that led to the creation of a "culture committee" and a Root Cause Analysis at the board level the following year. No real change ever came of either. All feels performative. Org leadership seems resistant to change. -Staff told by HR not to discuss BLM at work, and the org otherwise remained very quiet on the subject. -Crippling Founder's Syndrome -Overall, the leadership from the very top feels antiquated and of touch.
