Pros
Trevor has a worthy mission, as well as many dedicated employees and volunteers. The salaries and benefits for full-time employees are competitive within the nonprofit sector. Interns and volunteers can have rewarding experiences as long as they are insulated from the toxic office culture.
Cons
Working at Trevor is a nightmare. Senior executives routinely belittle or ignore employees who voice concerns about workplace harassment. There is little transparency in decision-making, and the office is held in a constant state of fear and secrecy. During my short time there, I watched more than half of my coworkers leave. Those who lasted more than a year seldom saw opportunities for growth or promotion. Employees have little faith or trust in the human resources department. Loyalty to the CEO and a willingness to cover up mistakes is valued over honesty and basic human decency.
