Pros
Being creative with engraving items.
Cons
If you'ra a manager the Holidays are hell, you work every holiday open to close. You work long hours non stop with no days off from Black Friday until December 27th. you are expected to stay and engrave orders (sometimes that means over 50 pieces!) until they are completed, even if you have to stay OVERNIGHT to do so; remember you are SALARIED so you do not get any extra pay. You never sit down, you are on your feet up to 18 hours per day. Remember the EXTENDED hours during the Holidays have some stores closing at midnight. You have ZERO family time for ANY Holidays. They have secret shoppers that rate your performance, you are graded on the " script " you are supposed to say to every customer. A warning about these secret shoppers, they are customers that have a sour outlook on life and are getting their "revenge" on the big companies, they have personal opinions about people and if they are in any way biased they give you a bad review, including lying about the experience. The company forces you to sell an add on that is a big profit making item, they rate managers and employees on how many they sell and if they don't sell a certain percentage they are written up. The upper management even admitted the items are trash and less than quality. Engraving is 100% profit for the company. You are rated on how much engraving is put on every item and what font you need to push. If you can't force a customer to buy that higher priced font you are drilled on conference calls. You get an 80 hour grid to work with during the rest of the year which includes your 45 salaried hours. If you go over grid you are written up, do the math and you will see that the store is open 77 of those hours; so if you come in early for your conference call and have a closer that means you work alone, not much break time there for food or bathroom, or for overlap to "coach' your associates. PAY is minimal, I had raises but a 12 cent per hour raise is an insult. I was told the company didn't make much profit. Um I guess the CEO had to make do with his 3 million dollar profit bonus that year. BEWARE if you live in an area that has snow etc. My DM actually told me to stay open and sleep in the kiosk on the floor when we had bad weather and stores were closing all around me, haha right, in the mall in a Kiosk.
