Pros
The ability to work on own initiative provides some space for creativity among the individual teams working on their respective sites. Diverse workforces allow less experienced workers to learn from more experienced individuals but not in an academic environment and the staff are friendly and engaging.
Cons
Lack of communication from the seemingly abundant mid-level management has (and is) a negative impact on staff morale. The companies goals and values just do not match up to the reality. Inclusivity is virtually non-existent, every staff member in my workplace does not feel either valued or listened to, which again relates to the lack of communication from particularly 'area managers.' To give an example, proposing to the customer ideas without consulting the team who will be responsible for making it happen which is discourteous to say the least. There has been no opportunities offered for training or development which, to me, is a clear indication that as an organisation it does not value its' 'talent.' I am currently seeking alternative employment as a result of this. I would not recommend this company to anyone seeking a 'worker' level job as there is no room for progression or at least it isn't offered to you. Furthermore with regards to salary, after researching other jobs of the same level as mine it is obvious that Thomas Franks salary is far from competitive with other companies. Offering nothing in the way of pay increases for at least three years or recognising the quality and workload that the teams are performing and failing to prepare for members of staff that are leaving and instead distributing the workload among employees essentially increasing workload without fair compensation which has the potential to decrease quality of service subsequently affecting the companies reputation, which in my opinion seems somewhat counter-intuitive for achieving the companies goals and objectives. I would also like to add that during this pandemic, Thomas Franks have taken full advantage of the governments furlough scheme by not paying staff their full salaries and presumably claiming the funds back from the government thus saving the company money which is understandable but I feel is an abhorrent and immoral way for an organisation to behave.
