Pros
People. That's it. I was the only reason I stayed as long as I did.
Cons
Too many to list. Here are my top ones.
1. Management is nonexistent. When managers want to manage, they get shot down, and then when things get bad, COs blame the management because they couldn't do their job. Lots of responsibility without any power to change things. Basic formula for burnout and loss of revenue.
2. The owner needs to step aside and let the people he hired to do the job do their job for God's sake. Stop micromanaging in areas you have no right to manage, especially IT. (He is a technophobe.)
3. Pay... That's it. Pay people what they deserve for the work and stop jerking them around when spouting numbers and giving less, if not a pittance, when hired. Total bait and switch. These people think you are legit when they get hired.
4. Accountability. Hold your people accountable. Managers and supervisors get away with the worst business decisions ever and then get promoted. Total facepalm here.
