Pros

Nice products and showrooms, high value sales allow you to earn good commission.

Cons

Restrictive design process, not much support offered, bare minimum company benefits such as holidays, pension, mat/pat & sick pay. No company car or car allowance, hardly even enough to cover mileage. Company expects you to go above and beyond and dedicate all your time to the job.

Thank you for your feedback. We're pleased to hear that you find our commission scheme effective. At Tom Howley, we're always refining our benefits package. Over the past year, we've introduced several new initiatives, including access to discounts, a cycle-to-work program, and a comprehensive wellbeing centre aimed at supporting your mental and physical health. Additionally, we now offer salary exchange for our pension scheme, reducing your tax burden and boosting your take-home pay. Looking ahead, we're committed to expanding our employee benefits further. Recently, we launched a milestone award to recognise employee service, and we're exploring holiday trading options for the upcoming year, allowing employees to purchase additional leave. While we're proud of these advancements, we welcome your feedback on how we can continue to improve. Please feel free to email us at employeefeedback@bhid.co.uk with any specific suggestions you may have.

Pros

Large flexi-time windows, paid time and 3/4 overtime (both very rare in the design industry), work from home flexibility and a workshop next door so you can pop down and ask any technical questions and see the products being made. Great place to finesse the basics of Sketch-Up and bespoke joinery and kitchen drawings.

Cons

Awkward location, kind of impossible to get to unless you drive and super bad for traffic. Quite a depressing office with a call centre vibe. Not much development once you've learnt the basics and can become quite repetitive. Sales designers can become quite snappy and incompetent with their designs.

Thank you for taking the time to write a thoughtful review! We appreciate hearing about your experiences and are glad to learn that you enjoy our hybrid working arrangements. We are growing which presents its opportunities for development, but unfortunately, we cannot always offer progression. There are a number of ways to get to our offices using public transport with trams and buses but appreciate this depends on your location and the shifts worked etc. We’re committed to creating a rewarding and supportive work environment, and your insights are invaluable in helping us improve. If you’d like to share more, please feel free to reach out to us at employeefeedback@bhid.co.uk.
