Pros

You can build a great little team if you can get them to work for a little more than minimum wage. Great stock performance. Monthly sales bonuses. Annual profit bonus.

Cons

Bonuses- If you blow it out of the water on a bonus (can make your pay worth it) you will definitely suffer from performance punishment of the next budget. Payroll. It is the easiest to control of expenses. You will never have a budget enough to run efficiently and the budget will constantly be cut to increase profits. You're reviewed on turnover. If you give satisfactory ratings to your employees, they get a 3% raise, but since you were required to cut 3% in payroll throughout the year, your budget will remain flat with a more expensive team. Turnover in Store Leadership is very high as you can't pay people enough to keep them. Fundamental problems in processes and supply chain with a deaf ear to fix any root problems that have cost associated. This is the cheapest company I've ever worked for. The SSC drives record profits times after time with stock that perform the best in retail. This is all done on the backs of the store personnel who are all overworked and underpaid while multi-unit managers and above bringing in great bonuses for the profits they drive. This company once published a book "Work Hard, Have Fun, Make Money: The Tractor Supply Story" showing how they decided to focus on the "Niche" market of the "Hobby Farmer". This is no longer the case as the company is now looking to the masses of everyone and losing focus on the farmer that laid their foundation.

Pros

Great benefits, pay is manageable. The store bonuses are incredible. If you are a store manager anything lower it’s not any significance to a paycheck.

Cons

Long hours there is no work life balance. Depending on who your district manager is a lot of them are very unethical. When you do not follow what they say they will find a reason to fire you. The company itself was great, but it’s the people they hire.
