Pros
If you don't want to work very hard and get paid a decent wage, then Travelers is the place for you. The performance expectations are very low so most people can meet the "average" criteria and have a job for life.
Cons
Run by 40+ year veterans with dated opinions on remote work opportunities and utilizing talent. Leadership talent is low across my lines of business. If you are agreeable and a "yes man" you are a leader. If you challenge the culture with good ideas, you are generally dismissed. It has this very weird culture of being overly consensus driven which means meeting after meeting with little to no decisions made. The place is all about getting along. As such, the innovative ideas never see the light of day. It is very much a "old boys network" in the technology areas. Leaders are allowed to jeopardize people's careers by unjustifiably bad-mouthing them. Moving into another department is impossible because your "bad" leader will continue to "bad mouth" you so you may as well leave. People are "racked and stacked" and judged on likeability, not performance. If you're not in the club, you're not getting promoted or $$. I know a variety of people who were told they were meeting expectations and given a $0 raise and $0 bonus.
