Pros
Good construction experience for any entry level engineers. The job had lots of talented engineers and supervisor with years of experiences under their belt. I've learned a great deal from everyone in a short period of time.
Cons
Maybe it is the mining industry trend, but people at this job were very disrespectful to each other. Besides the vulgar language, there was no teamwork involved while working on the field. On the management site, there were no or very little training was given to the new engineers. There was no acknowledgment or motivation for doing any good work, but if a mistake was found, then the person would definitely be notified. The work place wasn't very diverse. The majority of the workers were Caucasian, especially from the Midwest. The management didn't care very much for the well being of their employees, but rather use them without any remorse. Maybe that's why, 60% of the employee left the company at the end of the project, including 4 engineers and the project manager on the job. (Which was almost all of the engineers on that project). From what I've heard, this company usually have 2 years employee turn around, which says a lot about them. The salary and benefits of this company were decent compared to other construction company, but the job didn't provide a good work/life balance.
