Pros
The current upper management is awesome. Dale M. and his crew guided us through rough times in the 2008-10 crises and put Tree Island in a strong position to challenge the market at full steam ahead. Until the steel tariffs showed up and put that on hold. Now with the announcement of the removal of the steel tariffs there is full confidence in the management of Tree Island to guide us through this next phase where we finally get to concentrate on strictly making money as everything is still set up and still just waiting and chomping at the bit for full steam ahead. The people are trained and ready, the equipment is maintained, upgraded and ready and the operation is running quite smoothly. Not much to stand in our way now.
Cons
I've been working at Tree Island for over 30 years. Compared to the 1980's and earlier.. most of the cons have been dealt with and the current management seems genuinely concerned with developing a positive and safe environment. Compared to other mills this place is clean and safe... wages are better than most but could improve.
