Pros
First off, I just want to say the opportunities at TwinFocus are abundant and achievable. However, you must be willing to work hard (something I find lacking in most wealth management industry people) and eat dung. If you are not willing to do both, I wish you the best of luck in another industry. There is no investment in personnel or training but if you are a self-starter with determination you will come out on top. One partner is dominant (as in, solely runs the entire business)- while the other partners are lacking in many ways. The beta partners can come off as paranoid and insecure, and their worst habits permeate company culture. It can be difficult to ascertain if the partners want you to fail- certainly at times it does not seem like they want you to succeed. Even though your success means company success, at times it can feel as if you are fighting just to do your job “correctly”. Do not come into TwinFocus expecting to be nurtured, or have your hand held (though they certainly do a good job with clients). I truly believe TwinFocus is a good and generous workplace if you have the right work ethic. The firm has many interesting clients and there is a lot to learn. If you can stomach the work/life balance, it will make you stronger for future roles. BONUS TIP: the deferred compensation works in your favor if you push your fellow employees out 😉 you get THEIR deferred comp spread out against all remaining employees- so definitely push those people out if you want to score big.
Cons
The expectation is that you will give up your life to work for the company. Any day, any hour- however nobody is dying (except you on the inside)
